Our OBWs and OEWs involve staff from either our Dog Training and Behaviour Team, or Education Team, visiting organisations overseas to deliver a 4 day workshop on dog training and behaviour, or on how to devise and deliver an education programme.
We aim to have around 20 delegates from different organisations, with normally no more than 2 delegates per organisation, although this can be flexible depending on the location of the workshop.
Positive feedback from previous OEW attendees:
'I loved learning about topics that we should focus on as well as new ways to communicate with children through games and pictures'.
'I can not wait to put into practice changes to our lesson plans. We have included games, pictures and have made certificates to issue to the children'.
'The whole course was very helpful for me personally and for our teaching activity too. Both the communication and content of the course was excellent. We received a lot of new information and practical advice in a very understandable and easy to remember way'.
Positive feedback from previous OBW attendees:
'The learning theory has helped my team and I to establish good practices in teaching our dogs. In particular, I have realised how many mistakes I have made in the past in dog handling techniques'.
'I have learnt so much about the importance in bringing about enrichment to a dog's life in the shelter environment. I have learnt so many new ideas and can not wait to put these into practice'.
'The practical sessions with the dogs were so helpful. Especially the sessions outside in the pen as well as the clicker training'
'The OBW was amazing! Thank you so much. I hope to stay in touch and share with you the changes we have made'.
