The International Training Programme takes place twice a year, in March and September, at our state of the art Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre in West London. Join a small group of delegates for an intensive five day whistle stop tour of animal welfare, including talks from expert speakers, networking opportunities and a chance to ask any questions and share ideas with other organisations. If you already have a shelter, we focus on how to run it efficiently and look at the importance of education and fundraising. If you don’t already have a shelter, we can advise you on the best way to affect real change without one.

Monday 15th - Friday 26th March 2021

After the success of the 1st virtual ITP, we will be going ahead with another conference in March 2021.

The first week will be an intense schedule of key topics in animal welfare. The second week will be a mixture of workshops and lectures.

The sessions will be as interactive as possible and therefore numbers will again be kept low. This means that the application process will be competitive so please apply now to avoid disappointment.

The deadline for applications is December 31st 2020.

Feedback from some of our international delegates

“I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the opportunity to attend the virtual ITP!  Words are not enough to explain how much this training programme has helped me to understand much better many things, from the construction to the rehoming programme, the importance of choosing wisely how to develop the educational programmes for the children and adults of my community as well as how to organize ourselves for success, and son on, and so on!”

“Just wanted to express my gratitude to everyone who made this week such a fantastic learning experience”.

“Loving the two weeks and learning loads. Thank you for this great opportunity”.

“Thank you so very much for this incredible opportunity I cannot explain how much it meant to me to be hearing you all, you are a true inspiration and your services and facilities plus energy are second to none.  I have indeed learnt a lot which I intend to put into practice and help others do so too.  I really don't think animal welfare wise anyone does it better than you”.

Completing and submitting a form is not a guarantee of attendance. Most delegates are selected by matching their training requirements to the range of subjects covered, which is extremely broad.

After the course, we ask participants to tell us what their organisation is now doing differently as a result of the training. The most successful organisation is awarded £500 towards travelling to the next International Companion Animal Welfare conference.
