Around 150 children die of rabies every day. Fear of this horrible disease leads many communities to mistreat and kill dogs indiscriminately. We must change people’s attitude towards dogs and removing the threat of rabies in these communities is often the first step towards improving the lives of dogs in these countries.
Rabies is 100% preventable and mass vaccination of dogs can save the lives of hundreds of thousands of dogs while at the same time by providing a barrier to infection in people.
We are partnering with Mission Rabies to deliver a better future for people and dogs in three rabies hotspots: Goa and Ranchi in India and Blantyre in Malawi.
We have already delivered over 300,000 vaccines to dogs in the very countries where people are most affected. Alongside this we have educated hundreds of thousands children to make them rabies aware - better understand the dogs they live alongside and avoid getting bitten.
